Wondering what it takes to make an effective educational video? With unparalleled expertise in training and educational video production, SolidLine Media can enhance your educational message through experience, creativity and our ability to understand your audience. Whether you need an invigorating educational DVD or industry training video production, SolidLine Media is here to help you get your message across.

Here are some basic do’s and don’ts to consider before you begin video production:

  • Determine the focus of your message and keep it simple. Nothing turns audience attention away more quickly than a message that meanders or is hard to understand.
  • Know your audience. Don’t condescend. Engage and educate instead. Audiences don’t like to be talked down to, especially when they’re already at the table to learn more about a subject matter.
  • Include learning aids such as actual ‘real world’ situations and visuals that don’t seem ‘staged.’ Provide viewers with opportunities to apply the information presented to their own experiences and ensure a full learning experience.
  • Choose a presentational style that complements your video’s message. Whether you go with stylish graphics or a professional spokesperson to get your message across, be consistent and balanced to engage and maintain audience attention and to accommodate different learning styles.
  • Don’t let technology sidetrack you. Bells and whistles don’t amount to much if you don’t have anything to hang them on. The best educational videos tend to be simple with a well-defined topic, an ebb & flow that makes sense, and graphics & special effects that enhance and bolster the learning experience without being distracting.
  • Don’t be a copy cat. Just because everyone else is doing it doesn’t mean you have to do it. Don’t let your training or educational video become one of the many cookie cutter productions that are already out there – and that have such a bad reputation. Be one of the few, the proud, the artful – it’s essential to getting your message across effectively.
